Adaptive Single-Pole Auto-Reclosing Scheme Based on Secondary Arc Voltage Harmonic Signatures

This paper presents an advanced adaptive single-pole auto-reclosing (ASPAR) scheme based on harmonic characteristics of the secondary arc voltage. For analysis harmonics, short-time Fourier transform (STFT), which is a universal signal processing tool for transforming from time domain to frequency domain, utilized. STFT applied extract abnormal signature voltage waveform faulted phase when transient or permanent fault occurs power transmission line. The proposed uses total distortion (THD) factor determine type variation and harmonics. Harmonic components in order odd/even are also utilized detect extinction guide reclosing operation. Based these factors, two coordinated algorithms reduce unnecessary dead conventional methods enable optimal operation event ground fault. ASPAR implemented using electromagnetic program (EMTP), various simulations conducted actual 345 765 kV Korean study systems.
